Monday Performing Arts

Every great thinker is also a maker. On Mondays, your homeschooler steps into music, theater, voice, and movement, learning to create, communicate, and express with confidence and joy.

At River Tech, the arts are central to everything we do. On Monday Arts days, students explore vocal performance, acting, choir, and theatrical stagecraft in a hands-on, community-centered environment. Whether your child is a natural performer or still finding their voice, they will be seen, encouraged, and stretched. Our performing arts program builds confidence, communication, and character that serve students far beyond the stage.

River Tech students perform publicly in full musical theater productions and community concerts throughout the year, gaining real-world experience that builds pride and presence. Every student has a role. Every student grows. This is what happens when young people are trusted with great material and surrounded by a community that believes in them.

Dan Hegelund

Dan Hegelund — Arts Director

Dan Hegelund is a professional vocal coach, musician, and choir director who has spent his career doing exactly what he asks his students to do: show up, commit fully, and bring something genuine to the performance. His resume includes studio recordings, radio and TV broadcasts, and performances at venues ranging from the Presidential Palace of Ukraine and the Latvian Government to Clash of the Choirs, the Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan, and the Northwest Folklife Festival. Dan doesn’t just teach the performing arts; he lives them, and that passion is impossible to miss in the classroom.

Caitlin Relvas

Caitlin Relvas — Dance Director

Caitlin Relvas has been studying and teaching dance for most of her life, and holds a minor in Dance alongside her B.A. in English and Classical Civilizations. She brings a performer’s instincts to the classroom: an understanding of how the body communicates, how presence is built, and how confidence grows through practice and repetition rather than talent alone.
