Enrollment

Registration for 5 days/week & 3 days/week is open. Be sure to read through this entire page where I have answered common questions.

The interest in our 5-day & 3-day program far exceeded our expectations. Therefore we will not offer enrollment in individual tracks. If you are a homeschooler, consider enrolling in our 3-day program. We also will continue to offer daily extracurricular classes.

Parent attempting to pay their monthly tuition should go here.

Introduction

River Tech School is designed to offer a full program from kindergarten all the way through college, including high school, dual enrollment, and college coaching.

We are currently only accepting children ages 5-12. Do not enroll a 4-year-old in kindergarten (unless said child turns 5 within three months of school start, i.e. before November 7th). Do not enroll a 13-year old.

In addition to being an independent school, River Tech is also a Homeschool Resource Center serving the larger homeschool community by offering a 3-Day program and daily extracurricular classes.

What is Kindergarten tuition?

Option 1: You can sign up for 5 days a week for $449/month.

Option 2: You can sign up for 3 days a week for $339/month. Important: This presumes that you will teach the subjects (i.e. reading) yourself two days a week so as to not fall behind.

Is full tuition paid in months that contain a vacation?

Yes, except for summer. Monthly tuitions are to be paid from August 25th–May 25th, i.e. ten months of the year. (The tuition price takes into account that some months contain a vacation). The tuition is to paid in full even if you travel or are sick,  (the reason being that we still have to pay our teachers while you are gone).

For the full K–12 program, it is also possible to pay annually.

We will also offer free classes from time to time. For example, right now we offer five extracurricular classes for FREE until September.

Does tuition include textbooks?

Yes, tuition includes all textbooks. Tuition also includes the use of an extensive collection of advanced tech equipment and software (computers, video cameras, editing software, robots, 3D printers, etc.).

However, students are required to buy and bring their own personal laptop or tablet for classes (unless you already have one that meets the requirements). This is a mandatory one-time expense not included in the intuition. The reason that this device is not included in the tuition is that you will be bringing it home and taking personal responsibility for it.

This device should be only for school, so there should be no games on it.

Before school starts we will provide a few recommendations of tablets starting at around $100 and laptops starting at around $379.

If you are wondering whether to buy a laptop or a tablet, a laptop is better (but it is also more expensive). A laptop can run certain software that a tablet cannot. For example, our 3D modeling software, Blender, our Game Development software, Godot, and our video editing software, Hitfilm Express, will run on a laptop but not on a tablet, so if you want to be able to bring your 3D models or games with you home and continue work at home, you will need a laptop. However, you are not required to buy a laptop; a tablet is enough.

To clarify, students who do not have a laptop will still be able to work in Blender, Godot, and Hitfilm Filmexpress, using *our* stationary Macs; they just won't be able to bring their work home. I will make a video to explain this better ;)

Tablet Minimum Specs (to run Scratch and Vexcode Go):
Anything with a working browser (so not a Fire Tablet). Note: That being said, if you are buying a tablet, I recommend not buying a really old one.

Laptop Minimum Specs (to run Blender, Godot, and Hitfilm Express):
Intel Core i3 or better (Apple's M1 will work)
8GB DDR4 Ram
Graphics processor with at least 512 MB video memory
The oldest graphics card that will work are:
NVIDIA Ge Force 9 Seies (2008)
AMD Radeon HD 5000 series (2009)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 GT2 (2012)

Do we offer scholarships or grants?

Not at this time.

Do we offer sibling-discount?

Yes.

2 children = 9% off total tuition.

3 children = 17% off total tuition.

4 children = 25% off total tuition.

5 children or more = 33% off total tuition.

Homeschool Resource Center

River Tech Homeschool Resource Center (HRC) provides two services for the homeschool community.

(1) You can enroll part-time in our school, 3 Days/week. This allows you to do some of the homeschooling yourself, while delegating some of it to River Tech. In our 3 Days/week program your child(ren) would be taught five main "tracks": (1) Math-track, (2) Composition-track, (3) Tech-track, (4) Life-track, and (5) Arts-track. Read about our tracks here, and enrollment here.

(2) We offer daily extra-curricular classes for homeschoolers. They are currently FREE until September; then they will cost $35/month per class. We offer classes like: choir, martial arts, film production, robotics, HEMA, etc. Read about our extracurricular classes here.

We do not offer enrollment in individual tracks—only the 3-Day program and our extracurricular classes.
