About River Tech K–6
River Tech K–6 is a competency-based private Christian kindergarten & school in Post Falls, designed to offer a full program from kindergarten all the way through college by 2023 (we currently offer K–6, for ages 5–12). We plan to increase the age range every subsequent year.
2021, K–6, for ages 5–12
2022, K–7, for ages 5–13
2023, K–8, for ages 5–14, plus college coaching*.
*We will not offer traditional high school, but will instead offer college coaching, in which we teach you how to get an accredited Bachelor's degree for less than $10,000 by age 18.
You can choose to enroll your child full-time or part-time. Full time is five days a week, 8:30–1:10 pm or 8:30–2:45 pm (depending on whether or not you want extracurricular classes). Part-time is up-to-3 days a week, 8:30–1:10 or 8:30–2:45.
For kindergarten, you can choose to enroll your child full-time or part-time. The time for kindergarten is still being determined, but something like 9–12:30 pm, either 5 Days/week or 4 Days/week.
If you prefer to do most of the teaching yourself, for grades 1–6, you can instead pick & choose the classes you want (see our Homeschool Resource Center).
What Does "Competency-Based" Mean?
A child that signs up for our K–6 program, is enrolled in five "tracks": (1) Math-track, (2) Composition-track, (3) Life-track, (4) Tech-track, and (5) Arts-track.
Each track has four levels of competency. A student begins at a level and proceeds to the next level when he has mastered the level he is at. This competency-based method replaces artificial "grades" and allows each student to learn at their own pace.
If a student excels at a subject, they can move faster, and if they find a subject harder they can move slower. Read about the tracks here.
